Senior Cost Accountant/Analyst

A privately held, plastics manufacturer is searching for a promotable Senior Cost Accountant/Analyst. This fully onsite position will report to the company’s Controller and become a valuable addition to an existing cohesive, accounting/finance team.

Position Responsibilities:

• Assumes responsibility for the review, maintenance and accuracy of all Standard Costs 
• Prepares monthly journals relating to COGS
• Audits the accuracy of cycle counts, investigates variances and determines the internal controls
• Performs all standard costs rolls
• Computes actual labor and overhead rates
• Collaborates with the Operations Team to ensure accurate shop floor reporting and inventory management
• Drives continuous improvement by investigating production cost variances and identifying their root causes
• Maintains robust internal controls, performs physical inventories and ensures compliance with accounting standards
• Reviews the accuracy of the inventory reserves
• Prepares budgeted COGS based on production forecasts and analyzes budget vs. actual variances
• Issues monthly manufacturing reports with explanations on gross margin, manufacturing variances, overhead rates, inventory turns etc.

Key Qualifications and Attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Four plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong experience in a complex standard costing environment
• ERP experience required, MRP experience a plus

Compensation

• $90k+ with bonus potential
