Our client, a small, privately held, manufacturing and CPG leader is searching for a Corporate Controller. This role will report to the company’s CFO and manage a small team of professionals.

In this “hands-on” role, the successful candidate will lead the overall accounting functions of the company and play an important role assisting the CFO in co-leading other strategic finance initiatives. This role will work cross-functionally and play a key member in driving sales, monitoring cost efficiencies and ensuring compliance within US GAAP guidelines.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads in the month end closing procedures; drafting journal entries, reviewing account activity, identifying necessary accruals and allocations, and highlighting and understanding unbudgeted anomalies.
  • Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Works closely with the Company’s CFO and other executive team members to ensure consistency of processes throughout the Company’s finance department.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts for the company.
  • Provides in-depth, ongoing financial monitoring of all aspects of the facility to ensure profitable billings, positive cash flow and proactive identification and correction of actual and potentials shortfalls.
  • Implements the application and monitoring of enterprise procedures and financial controls at the facility to attain objectives while ensuring facility understanding.
  • Ensures that all financial information and statements are accurately and consistently prepared and reported for the facility, attaining all deadlines.
  • Manages all aspects of A/P, A/R, payroll, withholdings, remittances, bonuses, and commission computations at a facility level.
  • Evaluates insurance related documents, benefit packages, and retirement packages and ensures all are up to date and competitive.
  • Leads the implementation of a new payroll and employee benefits system through the partnership of a third-party VAR
  • Streamlines workflow and processes by optimizing the use of the systems.

Key Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business degree required
  • CPA preferred, public accounting experience a plus
  • Seven plus years of total experience with several years in a previous small to mid-sized CPG and distribution environment
  • Previous experience utilizing a small or mid-sized company ERP application
