Controller

Our client, a growing, PE-owned logistics and service provider, is looking for an entrepreneurially focused Controller to help support the company’s CFO and others on the Executive Leadership Team. In this highly collaborative role, you will be tasked with executing on prior demonstrated best practices which will drive improved efficiencies throughout the financial reporting process and other related functions.

Position Responsibilities:

• Leads in the month end closing procedures; drafts journal entries, reviews account activity, identifies necessary accruals and allocations, and highlights and understands unbudgeted anomalies
• Oversees financial operations including A/P and A/R, general accounting, payroll and cash flow management
• Maintains proficiency regarding technical accounting considerations, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, inventory, and other relevant GAAP standards
• Provides monthly analysis of P&L, inventories and headcount against prior year, budget, and last forecast, providing explanations of variances and defining and following action plan and communication of any risks and opportunities
• Assesses the effectiveness of accounting and reporting systems and procedures and makes recommendations to improve those systems as needed

• Understands key business drivers for long-term sustainable growth, as well as develops predictive analytics and tools to support the portfolio in achieving profitable growth
• Builds great working relationships with all internal stakeholders including corporate teams and interfaces with internal and external stakeholders
• Hires, trains and manage accounting team members
• Acts as liaison with external auditors and manages the year-end audit process

Key Qualifications and Attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA preferred
• Seven plus years of relevant experience in similar type roles managing a small to mid-sized professional team
• Prior experience managing corporate accounting and reporting for a private equity-backed company

Compensation:

• $125k+ with bonus potential
